A QUICK TRIP!!

For a little while now, Andy has been having the Disneyland itch. He has been trying to talk our friends into the idea, and then finally decided that we were going, and that was that. We were both super excited and then talked to our friends Tonya and David, and they said that they would love to come too!! Hooray, trip planned!! :)

Since everyone had to work on Friday, we decided that we would make it a QUICK trip and would leave Saturday morning, and then come home after we left the park on Sunday night. Tonya had never been to Disneyland and David had gone once when he was about 12. We were going to have SO MUCH FUN!!


Everyone was in and the car was ready to go Saturday morning at 8:45. Off we went. On the way we drove through this really cool windmill farm, and I tried to take some pictures as we drove. Later on we stopped at McDonalds in Indio for lunch, and had a nice stretch, and then checked into our hotel about 2:30. Saturday night we decided that we would appease me and go to H&M and Pinkberry then head to dinner and hang out in Downtown Disney for fireworks and then retire to bed early for an early start. Everything went great until we tried to go to Downtown Disney and David had a pocketknife in his pocket and a creepy Disney security guard came up to him and said, you have a knife in your right pocket, we do not allow knifes in the park. It was TOTALLY CRAZY!! David never took the knife out of his pocket, HOW DID THEY KNOW?!? Well that was a good giggle and we decided to return to the car. On the way back, the fireworks started and so we watched them where we were.


Sunday morning we were able to get up and get Tonya and David's tickets and be in the park by 8:15!! WAY TO GO!! We had a super great day! The best ride ended up being Autopia (the little cars on a track,) and we didn't even ride it! After standing in line for about 10 min, they came over the loud speaker and said that the ride had technical difficulties and they would not be able to open the ride for 1/2 hour or so. As we were watching to see what to do, people kept staying in line in front of us but everyone behind us went out the back. We started to leave and then a park employee told us to stay and get a "remit" ticket. Not knowing what a remit ticket was we were really skeptical, and then we found out it would let you skip the line on any attraction in either park except Toy Story Mania. Then, to make it even better, a guy told us to split up and then we could get 2 for our group!! AWESOME!! We ended up using one for Splash Mountain and bypassed that 50 min line, and then right before we were about to leave David started talking about Alice in Wonderland and I asked him if he wanted to go on the Alice in Wonderland ride. We tried to use our second remit ticket for it, the guy let us on and then told us to keep it and use it on Peter Pan. I think he thought we were crazy for using such a valuable thing for Alice in Wonderland. When we were finished we used it for Peter Pan. Right before the fireworks Tonya and David made a detour through Tomorrowland where they were able to make their very own light sabers!! They were HILARIOUS!!


The fireworks were good, but we listened to some not so great advice and sat right behind a tree for the fireworks.... oh well. It was still fun. After the fireworks we headed home. It was A LONG NIGHT! We finally got home about 5:00 am, and were ALL exhausted!!

MMMOOOOO...

On Friday, Chick-Fil-A had a cow appreciation day. If you dressed up like a cow, you would get a free combo meal. Andy was determined to get FREE food, so we decided to be silly, and dress up like cows. Yes, that's right COWS!! Chick-Fil-A provided us with a starter kit that you could download and print off. It had your ears, nose, spots, tail, and "Eat Mor Chikin" sign. Andy printed off the starter kits, we cut them out, duct taped them on, put string on our signs and off we went.

When we got to Chick-Fil-A we were feeling REALLY silly! I did not want to get out of the car. People leaving Chick-Fil-A saw us and actually started laughing. I worried that no one else knew about it and dressed up as cows, we would be the only silly cows in the place. Turns out once we got inside, all of the kids and some adults were all dressed as cows. It turned out to be really fun.

P.S. I just wanted to make a quick note to say how much I love Chick-Fil-A. The atmosphere and amazingly helpful employees definitely make it my favorite fast food restaurant. They also have a lot of really fun promotions. 2 weeks ago they had free breakfast week. Each day they would feature 1 free breakfast entree. I went twice!! :)

PROJECT #4: COURTYARD BISTRO SET

For the courtyard, I have really wanted a bistro set, and some sort of a tree like plant. It didn't need to be fancy, but that is what I really wanted. Our friends, Tommy and Alisha were at JOANN fabrics and they found some bistro sets for 70% off. I was excited and convinced Andy to take me there. We found a set that we liked, and then I remembered that I had seen some Hibiscus Trees at Sam's club the previous week. Here is our new and improved courtyard!!

The shutters have finally arrived!! They look awesome, and I am super excited that we might be able to sleep past 6:30 am.

Food, Fun & Fireworks!!

For the 4th of July weekend, Andy and I thought we could use a little break from the heat, and a fun weekend with friends. We were thinking we could go camping, but came to the agreement of going to my dad's cabin by Bryce Canyon instead of dealing with the crowds and inconveniences of real camping.


We got the weekend started early by having Tommy and Alisha sleep over on Thursday night, so we could wake up and leave at 3 am. It was EARLY!! On the way we stopped at Denny's in Flagstaff, and then continued up to the cabin. Friday turned out to be kind of a lazy day, we made tinfoil dinners when we got there and then everyone took a nap! It was nice. Later that night we cooked hot dogs and Smores over the campfire, played games and watched Men In Black II. What a fun start.

Saturday, we had a 4th of July barbecue and then went into Kanab for festivities and fireworks. We wanted to go to some of the shops and play in town for a while, but a lot of the shops were closed, and it started to rain, HARD! There was a fun movie set museum that we went and had played in. We decided to go eat at a little Mexican restaurant in Kanab for dinner and then go to Pipe Springs. Pipe Springs ended up being closed, but we took some pictures on the way as well as found some cheap gas.

Off to the fireworks!! The fireworks are set off every year right in front of some beautiful red cliffs beside a great park that has been sponsored by Stampin Up. The cushioning for the volleyball court and playground were cut up rubber stamps. It was SOOO cool! Alisha and I took some great pictures in the park, and we all had a really fun time. Because of all the rain the clouds were awesome all weekend, perfect for pictures. The fireworks were AMAZING!!

On Sunday, we were able to sleep in a little bit, and then my dad made some super yummy Corned Beef Hash. THANKS DADDY!! We helped clean up a little and then drove home. It was a great weekend, but I think we were all glad to be home!!

PROJECT #3: RANDOM WALLS - COFFEE

Andy and I discussed for a long time what color the main part of the house should be. I wanted to paint my kitchen red, so I wanted a neutral that would work well with the red kitchen and the brown carpet and tile. We finally decided that when we do eventually paint the whole main house we would use Bran Muffin. For accent walls we set out to find a complementary shade that was the same, just darker. Thanks to Vanessa, at Lowe's, we were able to pick a Waverly Home Valspar color that was just perfect. I painted 3 walls Coffee, and they add so much depth and variety. I had no idea what adding a little color could do!

PROJECT #2: OFFICE - FOUNTAIN MIST

On my quest to add color to my house, I was using my computer one day and decided to paint my office a bright aqua blue color. After scouring blue items of our own we then scoured the paint isles to match it. We picked Andy's new light blue polo, and finally matched it with Lowe's Valspar Fountain Mist. It turned out to be a very light but vibrant, airy blue. Very calm and tranquil!

*We didn't put the room back together because we would have needed to move it again for the shutters to be installed, and they are coming soon...

PROJECT #1-addendum POWDER ROOM

While we were at Lowe's buying the paint and supplies we found a formula of how much paint you need per square foot of area. We estimated the square footage and figured that we would need 3 gallons of paint! It sounded like WAY too much and so we decided to ask the paint girl. She said that 1 gallon of paint will cover 400 square feet or 4 10x10 walls. That sounded much more reasonable to us, and we decided to pick up 1 gallon, and if we needed we would come back for another. About 3 walls later I ended up making my second trip to Lowe's and bought another gallon. Needless to say we had A LOT of warm sun paint left over. I decided to put a couple accent walls in the Powder Room (1/2 bath.) It's really bright, and really fun!

Moved In

I keep forgetting to post pictures of our house after we moved in. Like any home, it will always be a work in progress, but here are some pictures with our stuff right now.

*The light in my house is a little interesting right now so some of the pictures came out super dark and/or fuzzy. Sorry!
